Phonak Digital Hearing Aids
- Introducing the Nano
For those of us who feel self conscious about wearing a hearing aid, and who would rather keep their hearing loss a secret, Phonak have designed the new Nano.
Smaller than a standard CIC and sitting slightly deeper in the ear canal, the Nano is invisible to those around you.
It utilises the Spice + chip and is available in two technology levels: Ambra and Solana (see below).
*Suitability of the Nano will depend on the size of the individuals ear canal.

- Introducing the H2 O
For those seeking a RIC hearing aid suitable for a more active lifestyle, Phonak have designed the new H2 O.
The H2 O is dust, sweat, moisture and water resistant with an IP 67 Rating.
It is slightly larger than the Audeo but on the plus side, this enables it to house a Telecoil within.
It is available in Ambra, Solana and Cassia technology levels and is compatible with Phonak wireless accessories.

- Ambra
- The Ambra is Phonak’s new premium hearing aid replacing the award winning Exelia Art.
Incorporating the new faster “spice +” chipset, the Ambra is available in a full range of styles including micro bte and cic (completely in the canal).
It boasts twenty channels, the full plethora of excellent features found in the Exelia Art and builds further on them.
When worn binaurally (in both ears) the instruments utilise the wireless technology, communicating fully with each other and constantly adjusting to the environment around them. These features enable the wearer to hear well even in more challenging environments.
Perhaps the most significant improvement the Ambra has over its predecessor and other models in the “Spice” are the new improved Zoom features.
StereoZoom enables the user to focus solely on a single voice in front of them while suppressing other unwanted crowd noises. Effectively it means better one on one communication in noisy situations such as restaurants and an end to the wearer’s partner shouting sweet nothings across the table.
Auto ZoomControl, when activated will search for the dominant voice, whether behind, to the left or to the right. It utilises the wireless technology and streams the sound to the other ear simultaneously. This is particularly useful in a car, where the user may normally have difficulty communicating with those behind or beside them.
The Ambra is also compatible with the icom and the full range of Phonak’s Bluetooth assistive devices.
In winter 2011 some further improvements were introduced to th Ambra, which further improve speech in quiet. These features are available free of charge to existing Ambra wearers from your local hearing aid audiologist.
All in all the Ambra is as good as a hearing aid can be (at present).

- Solana
- The Solana is Phonak’s new 16-channel hearing aid, incorporating the new “Spice +” chip and superseding previous mid range product, the award winning Versata Art.
It includes many of the same excellent features found in the Ambra. The most notable difference is the absence of the auto ZoomControl and SteroZoom. The Solana does still utilise a Zoom system but it is controlled manually via an optional remote control.
As with the Ambra, the wireless technology means that when worn binaurally, the two hearing aids are constantly working together to adjust to the environment around them. Other new features include FlexVolume (a new intelligent volume control) and SoundRelax, which aims to stifle sudden loud noises such as slamming doors and clattering dishes.
The Solana is fully Bluetooth enabled, so the optional icom and wireless assistive devices are all available should the user need them.
All in all the Solana offers an excellent mid range hearing solution.

- Casia
- The Cassia is the new entry-level model from Phonak, which like the Ambra and Solana incorporates the new “Spice” chip. Replacing the award winning Certena Art and utilising many of Phonak’s groundbreaking technology such as SoundRecover, WhistleBlock and UltraZoom, the 6 channel Cassia aims to provide state of the art performance at a lower budget.
As with all of the “Spice” range, the Cassia is compatible with the Phonak icom and the full range of Bluetooth assistive devices.

- Audeo S+ Smart and Audeo S+ Mini
- Phonak have introduced the new "Spice +" chip to the award winning Audeo receiver in the canal hearing aids. They are essentially receiver in the canal versions of Ambra, Solana and Cassia.
Each of these sleek, discreet hearing aids is available in a choice of 4 technology levels, the IX boasting 20 channels (and equating to the top of the range Ambra), the V with 16 (like the Solana), the III which has 8 (replicating the Casia) and the I (with 4 channels)
The features in IX, V and III models equate with the Ambra, Solana and Cassia. All of them include SoundRecover, an innovative feature that helps recover sound frequencies the listener no longer hears by compressing them into areas where their hearing is still audible.
But what is the difference between the Smart and the Mini?
The Audeo S Smart claims to be the smallest Blutooth enabled receiver in the canal hearing aid on the market. It has a push button on the aid for changing program and a feature called DuoPhone which enables the user to hear the phone in both ears simultaniously.
Designed for those who place great importance on instrument invisibility as well as technology, the Audeo S Mini's main unique difference is its size. It is not bluetooth compatable, something that has enabled Phonak to make it even smaller than the Smart (the smallest Canal Receiver Technology on the market", they claim ). It does not have a push button or duophone and takes a smaller battery (size 10) than the Audeo S Smart.
- Naida S and Naida S CRT
- The Naida S is a new generation in power aids from Phonak, which includes the faster processing power of the "Spice +" chip and improves on the original ground breaking Naida range.
It has many industry leading features, most notably Sound Recover, which helps recover sound frequencies the listener no longer hears by compressing them into areas where their hearing is still audible. This great new range of hearing aids also features SoundCleaning, Digital AudioZoom, NoiseBlock, Technology, WindBlock Management and Real Ear Sound. The hearing system also includes BassBoost, WhistleBlock and SoundFlow technology.
The Naida S is also fully equipped to deal with today’s modern technology and when used with the optional icom, it becomes fully compatible with blue tooth devices such as mobile phones and laptops.
It is available in six versions, The Naida S III SP, Naida S III UP, Naida S V SP, Naida S V UP,
Naida S IX SP and Naida S IX XP.
The Naida S CRT is a receiver in the canal version of the Naida. The first thing you will notice is it is smaller than other Naida models and uses a thin tube which houses a thin wire with a receiver on the end.
The Naida S CRT is water, sweat, moisture and dust resistant and has an Ingress protection rating IP67.
It is available in three technology levels and is also compatable with Phonak wireless assistive devices.
- Milo Plus
- The Milo Plus from Phonak is aimed at providing a revolution in the value-hearing sector. It is the first budget hearing aid to encompass Phonak's Core module that has already proved so succesfull in the Exelia Art, Versata and Certena among other models.
The range of usefull features on the Milo Plus include Whistleblock - which eliminates unwanted feedback, Noiseblock Processing - which helps reduce unwanted backgound noise and Directional Microphones - which help further priorotise speech above unwanted noise.
The Milo Plus is available in a range of different styles including custom made and minute open ear BTE's. It is also available in different power levels, meaning there's a version suitable even for profound hearing losses.

- Cros Systems
- Good news for individuals with unaidable hearing loss on one side and better hearing on the other, due to the advent of wireless technology and the super fast "Spice" processor, Phonak can now offer a cosmetically suitable solution.
The audio signal is transmitted wirelessly in real time from the transmitter in the unaidable ear to the receiver in the better ear. With no need for any additional internal or external components (no wires from one side of the head to the other), the system is not only a breakthrough in technology, but also in comfort, convenience and cosmetics too.
It is available in a range of choices, including tiny receiver in the canal and custom shell transmitters.
Finally thanks to Phonak the client can finally get the cros system they deserve.
